Serial Rapist Caught

BARANGAY MARIA ASUNCION, SAINT BERNARD – In a lightning quick operation, elements of the Philippine National Police arrested a serial rapist here who they claim was among the “most wanted” men in Southern Leyte.

Regional police spokesman Police Senior Supt Elizar Egloso said that police officers of the Municipality of Saint Bernard arrested Ariel Valis alias “Ayot” last November 29 after  a massive manhunt.

Valis is accused of raping two young women here. The suspect who was caught by surprise surrendered without a fight. Valis who is only 24 years old and works as a part time laborer was arrested on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Altone Miralles of the Regional Trial Court’s Branch 26 of San Juan, Southern Leyte.

Valis was immediately brought to the Saint Bernard Municipal Police Station and charged with rape.

Senior Citizen swindled 530K

BARANGAY IBARRA, MAASIN – A 73 years old widowed and retired nurse was reportedly swindled by two unidentified women and a certain Susan Tamulak of P430,000 in cash  and P100,000 in jewelries.

Mamerta Gaviola Paler who was convinced by the group to bring out P430,000 in cash and jewelries worth of P100,000 and give it to them.

Paler claims she was hypnotized by the group into doing what she did.

Your’s Supermart Robbed!

BARANGAY IBARRA, MAASIN – The owner of Your’s Supermart  Angelita Sy reported to the city police that her store had been robbed for the third time this year.

Police investigators led by SPO1 Dumaguit and PO2 Danny Araba proceeded to the crime scene and discovered that the thieves had  entered through the ceiling.  Ms. Sy told police that the robbers had stolen P20,000 pesos worth of groceries.

Recovered from the crime scene were a nylon rope (to climb the wall with) a kitchen knife (to enter the supermart premises) and a button that police investigators don’t have the faintest idea what to do with.
