Youth leaders hold leadership forum

February 11 - 17, 2017

Maasin City - The College of Maasin (CM) hosted a leadership symposium that aimed to mobilize young people toward positive activism and good leadership.

The program, which was held at the school’s alumni gymnasium last February 11, was centered on the mission to encourage, inspire and develop future leaders in the community.

The leadership forum was attended by at least 250 youth leaders, most of them students from different schools, members of the academe and representatives of different barangays.

The keynote speeches were delivered by some of the city’s top leaders in the fields of education, military and business.

Among them were retired Major General Bonifacio Ramos, former state university President Dr. Gloria Markines Reyes and well-known infrastructure contractor Engineer Alberto Barola.

The speakers highlighted their experiences of being known leaders in their own fields of expertise, and shared with the young leaders practical application for their own challenges.

Aside from exchanging thoughts participants actively engaged in stimulating questions like the rampant corruption in government and the rising number of extra-judicial killings.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
