We Were Cheated!

SAINT BERNARD, SOUTHERN LEYTE - Lakas Mayoral candidate Jocelyn Lim Bungcaras and her vice mayoral running mate and entire councilor slate have filed an Electoral Protest with the Regional Trial Court in Sogod asking for a manual recounting of the votes cast there.

Bungcaras said there was “massive cheating” committed by her opponent Mayor Rico Rentuza who she claimed connived with the Board of Election Inspectors the PPCRV and Smartmatic. She said mayor Rentuza used his power and influence as town mayor to dictate the result of the election. Bungcaras said her team would provide the court with hard evidence that Rentuza and his cohorts had rigged the elections.

“We are closely monitoring the ballot boxes at the municipal building to ensure they are not tampered with,” revealed one of Bungcaras’s followers.

We tried to get Mayor Rentuza’s comments on the election protest but was unable to reach him.

But one of his winning councilors, who requested anonymity, because the election protest was already with the RTC claimed they had neither the power nor desire to influence the result of the elections. (By: Mark Rimas)
