Three Centenarians to receive P100K each

February 18 - 24, 2017

MAASIN CITY - Three lucky centenarians in the city will soon receive 100,000 pesos each from the national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as their incentive for reaching the age of 100 years or more.

Under RA 10868 or the “Centenarian Law,” senior citizens who are 100 years old or above and still living shall be granted a P100,000 cash incentive award and a letter of felicitation from the government.

Among those who will receive the cash gifts are: Simeona Basa, 102 years old, from brgy. Mantahan; Primitiva Dizon, 101 year old, from Bato II; and Flaviana Plateros from Tagnipa, who recently turned 100 last January 20 of this year.

The three are reportedly the first three senior citizens to receive and avail of the new law.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
