"TABO SA DEPED" TO OPEN THIS JULY

MAASIN CITY - The DepEd Southern Leyte Division will host a "Tabo sa DepEd"to emphasize to our kids their need for proper nutrition.

"The Tabo will be one of the highlights of the education department for this year's education month which is scheduled this coming July. DepEd Medical Officer Dr. Consolacion Ruflo disclosed this at a meeting with the Provincial Nutrition Committee- Technical Working Group (PNC-TWG) and PIA at the Supercha Restaurant.

Tabo in the local dialect means market.

Tabo sa DepEd will be preceded by a one-hour zumba exercise session at the division office grounds which will be participated by DepEd employees and staff of the PNC-TWG members.

The Tabo will be formally opened by Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Dr. Noel Lumen. This will be followed by a short program with Dr. Lumen as resource speaker.

Different products from the Southern Leyte school districts will be displayed at the Tabo like vegetables and other nutritious food which will be sold after the booths are formally opened.

The theme of this year's nutrition month is "Pagkain ng Gulay Ugaliin, Araw-Araw itong Ihain," which encourages Filipinos to eat more vegetables so they will be healthier.(By MARK RIMAS)
