Scout Jamboree a success

DANAO FOREST PARK, MALAPOC NORTE, MAASIN CITY - The 7th Boys Scouts of the Philippines Rover Moot which was held in Sitio Danao, Malapoc Norte from October 22 to 28 and attended by over 1000 scouts was the largest Rover Moot ever held in the country. As part of their immersion activity the scouts repainted the classroom and fixed the fences of 10 public schools in the city.

The week long event went smoothly with only minor complaints from the 1000 strong boy scout contingent. According to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Joselito Trumata the only health problems they had encountered were common colds and coughs due to the abrupt change in the weather. He said a steady supply of water was provided by city fire trucks and that three public toilets were constructed specifically for the jamboree.

Among those who attended the opening ceremony were Board Member Albert Esclamado who represented Governor Damian Mercado, City Mayor Maloney Samaco, Camp Director Bienvenido Toledo, Scout Executive Alfredo Roa, Father Marnie Bansig the chaplain of Saint Joseph College, Pedro Escabarte the Maasin City School Division Superintendent, Violeta Alocillja the DepEd Division Superintendent, and Abdullah Rashed the Director of the Boy Scout Asia Pacific Region.
