Reyes Reappointed SLSU President

QUEZON CITY - Dr. Gloria Markines Reyes has been reappointed as President of the Southern Leyte State University. Reyes whose current term ends this August will serve as the state university’s president until August 2014.

Reyes’s reappointment was unanimously approved last Wednesday by the SLSU Board of Regents at its board meeting at the Commission on Higher Education Headquarters (CHED) in Quezon City.

Reyes who was the former Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs of the College of Maasin is a graduate of the University of the Philippines where she obtained her undergraduate and masters degrees in Public administration. She also holds a doctorate degree from San Carlos University.

Dr. Reyes is the daughter of the late Provincial Treasurer of Southern Leyte Leon Kerong Markines and Public School Teacher Mena Toledo Markines. She is married to Southern Leyte Times Publisher and editor in Chief Antonio M. Reyes. (By MARK RIMAS)
