Rape Suspect Flees

MAASIN CITY – The barangay official who was accused by a 13 year old girl of raping her 30 times has reportedly fled the province.

An SLT source claimed the accused had not reported for work for over a week and nobody seems to know where he is.

“It has been more that 15 days since he was given a copy of the complaint affidavit charging him with multiple rape of a minor but he has not yet submitted his rebuttal to these charges.”

Although lawyers generally consider flight as an admittance of guilt our source claims the councilor’s sudden disappearance gives his supporters at city hall more time to convince the alleged victim to drop her complaint.

However the complainant’s lawyer told SLT that the City prosecutor’s office will have no recourse but to endorse the case to the Regional Trial Court which should issue an arrest warrant against the suspect. (By ANTHONY KINGS)
