RGM Alliance’s Million tree planting program launched

MAASIN CITY - Joining forces to slowdown the effects of global warming, local heads of the national agencies and students leaders joined the cause of the Restore Green Movement Alliance (or RGM) at the city gymnasium last week.

Ronalyn Epis, President of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Maasin City, said they joined because this was the SK’s response to the urgent need to plant more trees in the province.

RGM Alliance’s titular head Representative Roger Mercado, empasized that planting trees does not end after planting for one must continue to nurture the tree until it is strong enough to grow by itself.

“Getting seedlings is no longer a problem because we have established and provided for many nurseries throught the province.”

Also present during the environmental event were Fe Norma Valuis of the Department of Labor and Employment, District Engineer Carlos Veloso, Mayor Maloney Samaco and Ranulfo Arbiol of the DENR.
