PNP on high NPA alert

February 4 - 10, 2017

CAMP ALFREDO BANTUG - Provincial Director Warren De Leon recently ordered all the police personnel in different municipal police stations to conduct random checkpoint operations in relation to the pronouncement of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte regarding the lifting of government unilateral ceasefire and the lifting of suspension of offensive police operations against the CPP-NPANDF and other threat groups.

Southern Leyte was reportedly one of the places on high alert due to the heavy tension with the rebel group.

According to the provincial chief, checkpoints are raised to pre-empt any plan to harass the PNP stations and to provide security and safety to the public.

De Leon urged Southern Leyteños to cooperate and not to be scared by the checkpoints so that they will not be suspected. As of this writing, no untoward incident has been reported.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
