PARO finally gets appointment after 37 years of service

TACLOBAN CITY – It took half a life time, but the long wait finally paid of for Provincial Agricultural Reform Officer Venerio Yap, who finally received his permanent appointment papers after waiting 37 years.

Yao said he was surprised when Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman announced his name among the presidential appointees from the Department of Agrarian Reform during their meeting in Cebu City last March 11. Pangandaman took his oath of office that same day.

Yap who recently turned 62 joined DAR on January 5, 1973 as a Junior Statistician assigned to the Paro Office in Saint. Bernard, Southern Leyte. He was later promoted to Examiner then to Budget Officer. During the department’s re-organization in 1989 he was appointed Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer for Administration at the DAR field office in Leyte.

In 2003 he was designated as PARO-II for Biliran. He was transferred to Southern Leyte in July 2009. Yap said his appointment has inspired him to perform his job till he retires three years hence. (Source PIA Tacloban)
