Oging The New Lakas Kampi

Congressman Roger G. Mercado is now the Lakas-Kampi Vice president for the Visayas.

His appointment, which took effect last April 5, makes him the administration’s kingpin for the entire Eastern and Western Visayas.

Mercado who is also the administration party’s chairman for Southern Leyte, and until recently Eastern Visayas, was reportedly chosen because of his party loyalty and perceived capacity to deliver votes for the administration’s beleaguered presidential candidate Gilberto Teodoro.

With his recent appointment, and the exodus of party leaders to the Nationalista and liberal party, the Lone District representative of Southern Leyte is expected to emerge among the top leaders of the party after the May election. (By RUEVIVAR M. REYES)
