New Year Wishes 2012

As we bid farewell to 2011 and greet the New Year SLT interviewed Congressman Roger Mercado and Governor Damian Mercado who were both re-elected in 2010 to the two highest political positions in the province.

These are their wishes for the province and for themselves this coming New Year.

Congressman Mercado who is on his last term as Congressman is  almost certain to run for governor in the 2013 elections. While his younger brother Damian would be their political party’s candidate for congressman.

Their New Year’s Resolutions

Congressman Mercado’s New Year’s resolution is to plant another million trees and to be as good a role model as he can be for his constituents.

“I wish Southern Leyteños would become food self sufficient so we won’t have to import our food from Mindanao and elsewhere and  I will do my best to help them achieve this goal.”

While Governor Mercado’s wish is that Southern Leyteños maintain their virtues of humility, respectfulness, and the Bayanihan spirit.
“I would also like to keep our environment healthy so we can minimize the impact of climate change on our province” he concluded.(By Angie Book)
