Modern IPHO Rising

MAASIN CITY - The construction the new provincial hospital in barangay Dongon, Maasin City finally began last week.

According to Provincial Health Officer Doctor Joselito Trumata, the new medical facility which would cost around 200 million pesos, and take two years to finish would have a 200 bed capacity, modern medical equipment, and ample parking space for patients and visitors.

Trumata assured the Southern Leyte Times that there would be enough medical specialists to man the new facility. And although critics claim there was no need for the new hospital he admitted that the current IPHO was old, over crowded and lacked space for expansion.

He said it also did not have a modern incinerator where they could dispose of toxic hospital wastes and surgically removed body parts.

He added that the new medical center would have modern equipment like MRI scanners and dialysis machines so that our ailing loved ones won’t have to go to Cebu or Tacloban for medical treatment. “Let’s face it, we will all eventually need the services of our provincial hospital and should therefore have one that is well manned, properly equipped, and brand new,” he concluded.
