Man stabs his own nephew?

MANTAHAN - A heated altercation prompted a 40-year-old fisherman to allegedly stab his own nephew in Barangay Mantahan, Maasin City last April 17 early dawn, according to city police officers.

A 27-year-old college student, Edward Luis Galo Cadavero, sustained a stab wound on his abdomen and was rushed to the Living Hope hospital for treatment.

While the suspect, Jerry Galo Cadavero, uncle of the victim, immediately and voluntarily surrendered to police authorities after the incident.

Police investigation disclosed that Edward allegedly had a clash with his uncle before he attended a vigil at their neighbor’s wake on the eve of April 16. He reportedly got home about 2 a.m.

Police claim that minutes later, the victim went out of the house, bleeding and came running towards their neighbour seeking for help, while the suspect allegedly ran after him reportedly holding a weapon, locally known as “sundang.”

SPO1 Victor Roa believed that the victim already asleep when he was stabbed by the suspect, as his bed was seen filled with blood.

The victim was rushed to the Living Hope hospital but was later transferred to the provincial hospital in barangay Dongon.

The police investigator of the case said the victim and the suspect have reportedly had a long-standing grudge.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
