Maasin grabs 4th place in EVRAA 2017

NAVAL - The Maasin City sports delegation went all out and hauled in 28 gold medals and emerged fourth place in the recently concluded Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) sports meet in the province of Biliran.

Based on this year’s EVRAA medal standing record, Maasin city garnered 28 gold medals, 34 silver and 33 bronze medals in the different fields of sports.

It was a back-to-sback win for Leyte province, as it was declared the overall champion for the second time, bagging a total of 97 gold medals. Tracked on second was Ormoc City, with 78 gold medals, Baybay City with 39, and Maasin City with 28 golds.

Meanwhile, Southern Leyte delegation was ranked 9th place among all the 13 provinces and cities who joined the annual event, and was awarded as the Most Orderly and Disciplined Delegation.

Presentation of overall winners and special awards was held at the Biliran Provincial Complex with Biliran Governor Gerry Boy Espina and Naval Mayor Gerard Espina giving out the awards. The EVRAA Meet had attracted some 10,000 participants.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
