Living Hope improves medical services in So. Leyte

January 14 - 20, 2017

Living Hope Hospital (LHH), a neophyte medical center, is going forward in terms of new medical advancement in Southern Leyte.

LHH is reportedly the first hospital in the province to have undergone total knee replacement surgery and craniotomy (brain surgery) with both surgeries proved to be successful.

Other procedures that have been successfully performed in the said hospital include hip surgery, laparoscopic surgery, eye surgery, urologic surgery, thyroid, breast, and colon surgeries.

It was also reported that facilities of the hospital continue to grow as their board of directors just approved the acquisition of more equipment this year.

According to LHH Administrator Tani Angub, new tests will soon be available like the blood gas analysis, 5-parameter hematology analyzer including reticulocyte count, immunologic tests and new tumor markers.

“Installation of C-arm x-ray in one of the 3 operating room theaters is also expected that will help the surgeon ensure a predictable outcome of surgery especially in the orthopedic procedure,” Angub added.

Based on administrator’s statements, patients in Southern Leyte will no longer have to travel to distant places to avail of CT scan since the LHH now offers brand new,

16-slice new generation CT scan that has been operating for almost a month, with official reading results available within 24 hours.

A fully operational intensive care unit (ICU) is also provided to cater to adult life-threatening medical and surgical conditions.

The current neonatal intensive care unit is also equipped with monitors, incubators and, more importantly, a respirator which is the only one available in the province.

LHH is now reportedly considered by neighboring medical facilities as a referral center in the province.

In case of emergency please call their hospital hotline: (053) 570-9880.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
