“I’m the LP Chairman here” - Castanares

MAASIN CITY – “I am the Liberal Party’s chairman in Southern Leyte and anyone else claiming this position is a liar!”

In a phone interview with the Southern Leyte Times an obviously peeved Engineer Robert Castañares critized Former Governor Rosette Yñiquez Lerias for informing the LP tandem of Noynoy Aquino and Mar Roxas that Mayor Samaco had not allowed them to use the City Gymnasium for their rally.

Castañares who was upstaged by Lerias during the Liberal Party standard bearers visit to Maasin last April 27 also reiterated his accusation against the National People’s Coalition candidate for city mayor at the Lakas-Kampi Miting de Avance at the city gymnasium.

He said “She lied about Mayor Samaco’s denial of their request to use the city gym for that LP rally. She also gave them the impression that she was the LP’s representative in the city.”

Castañares added that “If they could lie to our future president and vice president and Bishop Precioso Cantillas about this - what do you think they will do to you?”

“I personally talked to Senator Roxas and explained to him about the mistake made. And being a humble man he accepted his mistake and even called Governor Mercado and Mayor Samaco to apologize.”

Castañares who said at the Lakas Miting de Avance that he would play a role in the development of Eastern Visayas in the coming Liberal Party administration is considered a strong contender for the lone congressional seat in the 2013 election.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
