Ichon Nun Missing?

ICHON, MACROHON - A nun of the Vocationist Sisters in Ichon was reported missing last June. SLT sources identified her as 32 year old Sister Mercy Lamoste, a resident of Bontoc town, Southern Leyte.

According to SLT sources Mercy went to Cebu City with another Vocationist sister to attend to the immigration requirements of their congregation.

Her companion Sister Ben said they agreed to meet near the immigration office at the port area at 4 p.m. that afternoon so they would have ample time to catch the boat leaving for Maasin that evening.

Her companion claimed she proceeded to their meeting place but that Sister Mercy was not there.

She said she waited two hours but could not wait any longer since it was getting dark and she had to catch the boat.

At about 7 p.m. she said she received a text message from Sister Mercy assuring her that she was all right. “Don’t worry,” she said “I’m still okay. I have a problem to fix.” That was the last time anyone at the seminary has heard from her.

SLT tried to get an update on Sister Mercy but the nun’s we spoke to at their compound at Ichon refused to comment about their missing colleague because their Sister Superior was out of town and they had no authority to speak for the sisterhood. SLT also called the police station in Cebu to inquire about Sister Mercy and were told they would contact us when they reviewed their files but so far they have not done so,

Meanwhile rumor mongers in Maasin have speculated romance, an embarrassing pregnancy and (God forbid) foul play. (By ANGELYN BOOK)
