Hospital & Red Cross on high alert for the new year

 

Maasin City – Medical officers of the Salvacion Oppus Yniguez Memorial provincial hospital has assured SLT that everything was in place for the expected inflow of firecracker victims during the New Year revelry.

“We have already alerted our medical personnel who will be working overtime from December 31 to January 1” Doctor Trumata told the Times.

The technical office of the provincial hospital represented by Rufo Laraga said they were prepared for any eventuality and that medicines and anti-tetanus vials were now stocked at the medical facility.

Laraga concluded his interview with SLT by saying “Instead of buying firecrackers, our people should give donations to the poor victims of typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City.”

The Philippine National Red Cross-Maasin chapter is also prepared for this New Year’s emergencies.

Red Cross Administrator Noli Casas said they had enough blood supply in their local blood bank for firecracker related injuries during the New Year celebrations.(By WOWIE REYES)
