Gonzales Awarded Best District Engineer in E.V.

METRO MANILA – Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson personally handed to Southern Leyteño Engineer Lino Gonzales, the District Engineer of Ormoc City’s engineering district the plaque of Best Engineering Office for Region 8 last December 22, 2011.

Gonzales who was born in Sogod town, Southern Leyte is married to RTC Judge Daisy Gonzales and continues to reside with his whole family in Barangay Ibarra, Maasin City.

Gonzales who is an engineering graduate of the University of San Jose Recoletos was formerly the assistant to Southern Leyte District Engineer Carlos Veloso of DPWHSLED here from 2009 until early 2011. He is also a devoted educator who continues to teach engineering subjects to Southern Leyteños during weekends at Saint Joseph College’s Extension Campus in Maasin City.

Last August 22, 2011, Gonzales was promoted as the new District Engineer of Ormoc City with the endorsement of Ormoc City’s Congresswoman Lucy Torres Gomez after he passed a rigid national and local screening and evaluation process.

The award shows the kind of leadership qualities Gonzales possesses as he transformed his district from one of the worst ranked to the best in region 8.

In the past the Ormoc engineering district was consistently ranked No. 12 of the 16 engineering districts in Eastern Visayas, the performance evaluation of the award was based on early project completion, public response and project quality.

But Gonzales changed all that upon his assumption to office. “My Vision is to help our people through the implementation of public infrastructure projects that are really needed by the public at the right price and the right quality”. Gonzales ended. (BY JOSE DE GUZMAN
