Farewell RC we will miss you

CANTURING, MAASIN CITY – “It’s so hard to forget her  because  she was the best daughter any parent could hope for.” her mother Maria told the Southern Leyte Times.

She was a scholar, student leader, orator and beauty queen rolled into one amazing woman. And we too will miss her for Ranette Czarina Dajao Estrada, Miss Southern Leyte 2006 passed away last Wednesday after a lingering illness.  She was only 21 years old.

RC (as she was fondly called) is the eldest daughter of Mr. Serando Estrada and Doctor Maria Teresita Dajao.

She was born on June 22, 1990 at the Metro Cebu Community Hospita in Cebu City. RC was a consistent honor student at Saint Joseph College and graduated Salutatorian of its high school.

She was an active student leader and was elected President of SJC’s High School Student Government and was its band Majorette for two years. She was also its Declaimer and Orator champion in 2005.

RC started competing in beauty contests in her home barangay of Canturing  where she won the Miss Canturing beauty pageant in 2003.

She would later win the Miss Maasin City Division beauty contest and was Miss EVRAA 2005 and in 2006 she was unanimously selected as the Outstanding Young Maasinhon and in the same year won the coveted beauty title of Miss Southern Leyte.

She took up Nursing at the Velez Medical Center in Cebu City and was on its dean’s list of scholars. RC was a member of the Velez debating team and won as its Best Speaker, Best Debater and Best Interpolator. In her first year she was chosen as “Pinakamagandang Kasoutan Pambabae.”

Doctor Estrada in an interview with the Southern Leyte Times said: “She’s the best daughter a mother could hope for. She would always pick my clothes for me. That is what I miss most from her; the color of my dress and the shoes I would wear. RC always made sure everyday that my clothes and shoes matched.” (By ANGELYN BOOK)
