DOST launches fun learning for public students

June 24 - 30, 2017

The Provincial Science and Technology Center recently held a Road Trip Explorer Program last June 18-23 that catered to elementary and high school students, mostly enrolled in public schools, to bring out fun learning experience and interactive experiments that enhance the knowledge of Southern Leyteño youth.

According to Provincial Director Florita Santiago, Science Explorer is a mobile interactive learning facility that aims to expose students to science and technology and encourage them to pursue careers in these fields.

The bus is equipped with laboratory facilities, audio-visual learning materials and interactive exhibits that will be helpful in facilitating learning among students.

The learning bus provided relevant information to teach every curious and eager student and let him experience science and learn more what is written in
the books.

It was reported that during the week long undertakings, a series of activities covered the topics particularly on Marine Microbiology, Weather Science, Plant Biodiversity, Climate Change, Landslides and Astronomy.

A night sky viewing was also opened to the public last June 18, around 7pm to
9pm at the Maasin City boulevard.

The week long road trip bus also visited the towns of Padre Burgos, Sogod, and San Juan.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
