Carpenter returns money

February 11 - 17, 2017

In a world dominated by non-stop information and no shortage of headlines on political rancor and violent crime, glimmers of goodness sometimes show up in the form of blue wallet and the good Samaritan who found it – as happened last week in Sta. Cruz village, Macrohon town.

On Wednesday, February 15, around 12:30 pm, 27-year-old carpenter Aproniano Aranzado Palo, Jr., was reportedly walking along the national highway heading towards his rented house, when something caught his attention.

Police reports claimed that Aproniano noticed a blue wallet, that allegedly contained cash worth 15,200 pesos, BIR Tin, PhilHealth identification card, and certificate of registration of a Honda Motorcycle under the name of Michael Ferdinand
Malcolmson, from Sto. Rosario, Padre Burgos.

Mandated by his conscience, without any hesitation, the 27-year-old Aproniano immediately reported and turned over the wallet he found to the Macrohon police station.

A coordination between Macrohon and Padre Burgos police stations traced the reported lost wallet to its rightful owner.
On the same day, Malcolmson, 31, married, fisherman and a resident of Brgy. Sto. Rosario, Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte, claimed and retrieved his lost wallet and personally met Aproniano to extend his heartfelt thanks.

Aproniano’s photos and heroic act were posted and circulated online by some netizens for his commendable act.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
