Calapre wins silver in Palaro Pambansa

MAASIN CITY – Twelve year old local tennis sensation Mary Joy Calapre of Barangay Mantahan, Maasin City won the silver medal for her runner-up performance at the recent Palarong Pambansa.

The promising tennis sensation who studies at the Maasin Christian Academy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Basilio Calapre Jr.

Mary Joy started playing tennis when she was 6 years old when her father taught her the rudiments of the game.

After her string of successes in tennis Mary Joy told the Southern Leyte Times that she had decided to rest for a while and take a break from competitive tennis because she would be enrolling in high school this school year and wants to concentrate on her studies.
