Cabalianon stabbed in UP

SAN JUAN – The sacred halls of the University of the Philippines in Diliman Quezon City was violated when Lordei Camille Anjuli Hina, the daughter of Cabalianon Connie Hina, was stabbed with an ice pick by two hoodlums while preparing for a student council meeting  at the UP Diliman Student Council Office.

Police Superintendent Michael Macapagal of the Quezon City Police Investigation unit reported that Lordei a 20 year old fourth year political science student was alone in the student council office when the assailants tried to steal two laptops and other office equipment.

According to police reports Lordei had fought the intruders but was hit on the head with a sports trophy and stabbed in the head with an ice pick. Connie Hina, her mother, told police the ice pick pierced her daughter’s left temple and exited through her head.

Connie said the injuries Lordei sustained affected her sensory perception, consciousness, sight, speech and motor skills and memory. She said surgery would do more damage at this point and that Lordei would be under observation for six months. “I still believe in divine healing,” she said.

Connie said the vicious attack on her daughter should be an “eye opener” on what should be improved at the state university campus. She said parents should feel secure whenever their children are in school.

One of Lordei’s attackers who UP security guards identified as Danmar Vicencio is now in their custody. Vicencio confessed that his friends had egged him to get the laptops and since they were on drugs they complied”

Recovered from Vicencio was a bag containing two laptop computers and a 12-inch ice pick. Police are now searching for Vicencio’s companion Dante Santos. Police said the two had entered Vinzon’s Hall by posing as tattoo artists of a booth at the university fair.  (by Ruevivar M. Reyes)
