Bayanihan saves blazing house

February 11 - 17, 2017

A fire reportedly engulfed one of the houses in barangay Combado, Maasin City, a day before Valentine’s Day, last February 13, at around 8:27 in the morning, based on the report of the Maasin City Fire station.

According to Fire Officer 2 Raul Inocando, a fire emergency was raised after Liza Doron called and alerted the fire station.

Due to the immediate need to put out the fire, the neighbors of the burning house showed their bayanihan spirit and cooperated with each other to fight the on-going blaze.

In an interview, onlookers claimed that if not for that immediate response by the people, the fire would have consumed the whole house, and might possibly spread to nearby houses.

Inocando said that the fire was put out while fire personnel were enroute to respond to the fire scene.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
