Barangay and SK registration deadline

April 22 - 28, 2017

Commission on Election (COMELEC) Officer Atty. Antonio Gulay Jr., is urging the public, especially the youth and qualified adult voters who are not registered, to go to the nearest COMELEC office and have themselves registered from now up until April 29, the last day set by the national voting agency as the deadline for voter’s registration.

Despite the proposal of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to postpone the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections scheduled on October 23, 2017, the COMELEC here is continuing its election preparations.

“As of now, our office has processed quite a number of voters’ registration applicants,” Gulay said in an interview.

“Furthermore, the agency is still expecting more applicants as the deadline is fast approaching and most Southern Leyteños tend to file their voters’ registration during the last date scheduled,” Gulay added.

For voters who want to transfer and those who have corrections with their names, Gulay advised them to bring documents like certificate of residency and birth certificate.

The scheduled filing of certificates of candidacy for the October 23 Barangay and SK elections will be on September 23 to September 30, 2017.(By MARK L. RIMAS)
