Angry mom's slam porno-dens

BARANGAY PACU, MAASIN CITY – Last Saturday the Southern Leyte Times received a delegation of angry mothers from barangay Pacu who were complaining about the proliferation of video pornography there catering largely to 9 and 12 year olds in the community.

One mother who requested anonymity said she learned about the shameful activity when she found her 9 year old son viewing a pornographic movie near the old church there. “They were charging kids 7 pesos per pornographic sequence and my son spent all his school lunch money to see the entire show.”

“What is shocking,” she lamented was “that no one in the neighborhood had reported the daily showing of pornography to the barabfay tanods or school authorities.
“One of our newly elected councilors who lives nearby must have known about the activity, but had done nothing about it, and neither did the priest who held mass at the church there each week. Para na tayong Sodom and Gomorrah dito. Wala na tayong hiya or delicadeza” she added.

We told them there was an existing agreement between schools and video shops in the city banning school children from entering these establishments during school hours.
We also informed them that the Anti-Chid Pornography Act of 2009 states that pornographers and operators of x-rated movies and internet cafes preying on children should be penalized and prosecuted, but that local authorities were not implementing the law.(By ANTHONY KINGS)
